Locklizard simplifies license management for DRM products

Locklizard announce a simplification in the way in which customer license files are identified and issued, benefiting document/content owners and users alike.  Simplified license management for Locklizard DRM products ensures publishers can easily associate license files with the correct customers.

One of the more complicated aspects of license management is being able to relate specific license files to the customers they were issued to.

Typically a license file contains information about who is issuing the license, and codes that are used to provide a unique and unpredictable license identity, such as you typically see on Microsoft license packs.

However, they don’t make it easy for the user to know that the license file is for them, or for the information publisher to know exactly who the license was actually issued to.

Locklizard have introduced in their DRM products, the automatic naming of license files using the user name (or whatever identifier the publisher has chosen to provide a unique link).  This means that users can easily identify if a license is for their use or not (important if licenses are being distributed for internal use, and you may not get the rights you should if you implement the wrong license).

It also means that publishers can quickly identify a license file if it needs to be re-issued (maybe it was accidentally deleted, has been lost, or maybe there is a policy to delete them after use as a security measure). When used together with the monitor email address function on the admin system, it makes forwarding license files on to customers a breeze.

This change to file naming does not change installation or registration procedures, but makes it easier and faster for all Locklizard users to identify the correct ownership of license files.
