PROTECTING PDF DOCUMENTS - PDF DOCUMENT PROTECTION
Protecting PDF documents: Highlight your PDF files in Windows File Explorer, right-click and select Make secure PDF.
The following tabbed dialog will be displayed:
Customization: Here you can brand the viewer with your own splash screen and custom message.
Document Access: Here you select what customers/users can view your documents.
Expiry and Validity: Here you select when your documents expire (if ever) and whether checks have to be made with the server to validate licenses. By enforcing license validation you can instantly revoke documents.
Environment Controls: Here you select various controls that determine what environment the viewer will run in.
Printing and Viewing: Here you select whether users can print and view your documents, and if so, how many times. You can even prevent document access once the number of prints have been used.
Watermarks when viewing: Here you select whether watermarks are displayed on your documents when they are viewed. System variables - user name, company name, email address, date/time stamp - can be dynamically displayed. Both text and image watermarks are supported.
Watermarks when printing: Here you select whether watermarks are printed on your documents. Both text and image watermarks can be printed. System variables - user name, company name, email address, date/time stamp - can be dynamically applied when printing occurs.
Display Settings: Here you select how you want your document to be displayed in the viewer and whether you want to enforce those settings.
PDF SECURITY ADMINISTRATION SYSTEM
This is where you create and edit user accounts and manage document and publication records.
USER REGISTRATION
A license file email is automatically sent to each user when you create an account for them. Users install the secure viewer and register with you so they can view protected documents.
VIEWING SECURE PDF FILES
Double-click on a protected PDF file in Windows file explorer for it to display in the Secure PDF Viewer.
PDF document usage controls are enforced by Lizard Safeguard PDF Security and cannot be circumvented. Details of when the user account expires and when the PDF document expires (if at all) are displayed at the bottom of the Secure PDF Viewer.
