Terms of Agreement for Scholarship Essay

The submission of an essay to Locklizard Limited shall be, without limitation, acceptance of and an undertaking to comply with these terms of agreement as set forth in this document by the applicant.

Eligibility

This competition is open to legal residents of the United States who are at least 16 years of age and are enrolled in an accredited post-secondary academic institution in the United States.  Applicants under the age of 18 years must provide the written consent of their parent or legal guardian in order to participate.  The academic institution must be declared and Locklizard Limited is granted the right to verify student details with the institution.

Language

Written work must be supplied in English.  Where work is provided in another language it cannot be accepted for this competition unless a translation into English is provided.

Originality

The candidate warrants that the work submitted is their own, is original, and that they own all Copyright in the document content (text, art work, illustrations, multi-media works and so on).  The candidate accepts liability for defending any copyright actions where plagiarism is proved.

Rights to use

By entering, each applicant represents that his/her submission is a work of the applicant’s own original authorship, and agrees that Locklizard Limited will have a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide right and license to use the submission in any manner they see fit.

General

Locklizard Limited, any participating sponsors, directors, officers, professional advisers and employees are not responsible for: any late, lost, misrouted, corrupted, distorted or damaged entries; any contributory failure of hardware, software or failure to perform anticipated processing or handling of any information; any loss, damage or other similar event that is beyond their control; any typographical errors in any printing or reproduction.

Locklizard Limited shall not be liable to provide an award other than that specified in the contest statement and shall not be liable for the use made of the award by any successful candidate.  Third parties are specifically excluded from this agreement.

Locklizard Limited is not bound to make an award.  Locklizard Limited reserves the right to disqualify any entry for any reason, including without limitation: materials not suitable for general public viewing; obscene, lewd or offensive materials; the use of third party content or other materials not authored by the applicant; and materials previously published or entered into any other competition.

Applicable Law

The law applicable to this agreement is English Law, and the parties to the contract submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts without regard to conflicts of law principles.
